Why Locals Love Restaurante Baobar
Located in the heart of Bilbao’s Abando district, Restaurante Baobar is a hidden gem for lovers of authentic Asian flavors. This cozy eatery at Hurtado de Amezaga Kalea, 19 invites you to experience a genuine taste of Asia with a menu that promises both deliciousness and affordability. Though the space is intimate, accommodating only about 10 guests, the warm, unpretentious atmosphere lends itself perfectly to savoring a quick yet memorable meal.
The cuisine here is packed with bold and comforting flavors, clearly reflecting an expert mastery of Asian recipes. Diners consistently rave about the fried rice, a dish that bursts with perfectly seasoned, fluffy grains combined with fresh ingredients — a true crowd-pleaser praised by customer Jana for being "extremely delicious and cheap." Another must-try is the tantalizing assortment of noodles and rollitos (spring rolls), complemented by rich, flavorful sauces that Cheryl B describes as irresistible. Her recommendation of the tartar rollitos con pato and tallarines con pollo highlights the restaurant’s ability to balance rich, savory tastes with freshness.
For soup enthusiasts, Restaurante Baobar’s wonton soup is often cited as the best in the city, impressing Ásta Hannesdóttir with its delicate broth and perfectly cooked wontons. The food’s depth of flavor and quality ingredients consistently win over even the most discerning palates, making each bite a true delight.
What truly sets Baobar apart is not just its food, but the genuine hospitality you'll encounter here. Regular patrons like Soren Palsen emphasize the friendly service and welcoming vibe, which create an experience that feels personal and authentic. The combination of abundant, reasonably-priced portions as noted by Leonardo Romano, and the vibrant, inviting atmosphere makes Baobar a standout option for both locals and visitors seeking a quick but satisfying Asian meal in Bilbao.
If you find yourself craving a culinary adventure that’s both affordable and rich in flavor, Restaurante Baobar is a must-visit destination. Whether you’re popping in for a quick lunch or savoring your dinner dishes, this small but mighty spot delivers satisfaction in every bite.

Extremely delicious and cheap fried rice. It has not disappointed me. Very small place, maximum 10 seats. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a quick eat in the city.
